Excellent product for the money

Why You Ned to Buy Converter Wireless Mirroring Airplay iPhone

Converter Wireless Mirroring Airplay iPhone

I obtained this product mainly to convert HDMI built-in audio to analog audio. This is to use with a Roku device, because my A/V audio receiver does not have HDMI support. My TV's all have HDMI for video, so I do not need - and did not test the HDMI to VGA converter (but I see many customer reviewers have tested it and I refer you to their reviews of picture quality).

In order to convert digital to analog audio, the IPEVO device must include a stereo DAC chip. A standalone DAC can cost anywhere from $20 (most of the cost of this unit) to $5,000 and more. Of course, this IPEVO unit is not an audiophile product, especially given the modest price, so one should not judge it as such.

Instead, I see this product as providing picture and sound for video viewing - usually a less critical activity than listening to your favorite music album.

However, I did compare the sound quality of the IPEVO to a much more expensive DAC on the same audio (by passing my PC's audio through its HDMI output). The IPEVO sound quality was clearly not as good - for example, it added some sibilance on vocals. However, overall the sound quality was just fine for typical TV or movie viewing - a wide response, including good bass response. You would indeed need to pay significantly more to get better performance.

So, if the IPEVO inputs and outputs match your products and your needs, then I can recommend this product on the basis of its price performance.

  2. Hey, truth in advertising!

So yes, I use this to get a current-gen Apple TV to work with an older monitor that did not have an HDMI input. It works. Main thing is that if you're using your device at a given resolution, unless you modify the settings on the device you may get a blank screen on the VGA input. Set your device resolution settings to automatic before you connect it to the VGA screen and it should work well. Please understand that while HDMI carries both audio and video, VGA only carries video. You'll need a set of speakers to attach to this converter as well.

The item was packed well and I received it very quickly. Good job!

  3. I needed a product that would connect a HDMI device to our Epson projector's VGA plug. This worked well for doing that.

  4. If you have not yet been introduced to the joys of Apple TV, read up on it and then set it up in your home/office. It is a great technology that greatly simplifies the sharing of media, removing obstacles that I used to assume were simply unavoidable realities. This review is not about Apple TV though so on to this product.

The moment I saw this product I knew that we needed to buy it. I have a conference room projector that is connected to a dedicated computer, bluray player and sound system. That means that all of the HDMI slots were taken. I have turned most people in my office into Apple TV evangelists and assumed I would have to buy a new (expensive) projector so that folks could use their iPads and iPhones to broadcast content in the conference room. This very simple and inexpensive product solves that problem.

I installed a new Apple TV (hockey puck sized), plugged in this adapter and connected it to the projector. Total setup time was less than 10 minutes. Now this projector is included within the reach of all our iOS and (some) Windows machines.

Great product and it saved us a bunch of money.

  5. I use this to connect my iPod to a TV at deer hunting and summer camp. It works great. We have a nice older TV that works to well to get rid of; so this converter allows to get more use out of that older technology. The best part is that it's so easy to use. I've used other types of converters that work; but involve a lot more fiddling around. This is very compact and easy to hook up.
All you need is TV with Video (Yellow) and Audio (Red and White) RCA jacks and your set to use this converter. I Love It!!!

  6. If you have an iPhone, Apple TV, iPad 2 or 3, or DVD and need to display a project using an older style projector or monitor, this should work perfectly for you. Directions are clear and the is a Customer Support email is provided.

  7. Apple TV is a really great product, but it doesn't work if you don't have an HDMI cable. This hasn't been a problem for me, but it's impeded my ability to take my Apple TV anywhere, a concept worth exploring especially given how compact it is. Problem solved.

This HDMI converter works great. It's really easy to set up and the picture looks amazing. I've used this a few times now and there haven't been any issues.

The converter doesn't cost much and is a great way to use Apple TV if you don't have an HDMI cable. I highly recommend it.

  8. Works great for that odd analog to digital conversion! You do have to play with your sources video size some though.

  9. This is a really nice set. I love that it is simple to set up and pretty much plug and "play". This has been easy and breezy with my Apple TV. This works well between my existing monitors that are a little on the ancient side with no problems. Five stars for simplicity and overall quality of the items included.
